Iconography

Icons, emojis and more.

Icons are an essential part of many user interfaces, visually expressing objects, actions and ideas. When done correctly, they communicate the core idea and intent of a product or action, and they bring a lot of nice benefits to user interfaces, such as saving screen real estate and enhancing aesthetic appeal.

Using icons.

Our icon style is clean, simple, contemporary and is designed to create consistency across Verve, whether this be part of our technology, training resources or marketing materials.

Appropriate icons should be selected depending on the use, and should only be used if they add value or simplify an explanation.

They should be sourced from Font Awesome and only used in our brand colour palette. If you need any help sourcing icons, please get in touch. The guidelines for our technology cover everything from typography and colour, to buttons and selection fields. They define specific styles for every type of asset and dictate when they should be used.

Using emojis.

Emojis should be, in general, used sparingly throughout our communications – including social media and mailers.

When used in mailers, it should be limited to the following situations; key statistics for events, in place of bullet points for lists and in subjects and previews.

Where possible, please make sure you’re using the UK version of any icons (i.e. a £ rather than a $ or €).
